Why Switch?🧐

Why Switch to Bamboo Sanitary Pads?
On average, women will have around 450 menstrual cycles in her lifetime. That's roughly 12,000-15,000 disposable products which end up costing thousands! Reusables will last around 5-10 years depending on how well they are cared for.
Our Bamboo fabric used to create our reusable sanitary pads is a natural textile made from the pulp of the bamboo grass; the fibre is then made by pulping the bamboo grass until it separates into thin threads of fibre, which is then spun and dyed for weaving into cloth. Bamboo fabric is similar to the softness of silk. The Bamboo used is eco-friendly, as it requires no pesticides or fertilisers.
Currently, bamboo fabric is considered to be the trendiest, most sustainable fabric in the fashion world. Bamboo has superior wicking and is highly absorbent, much more so and faster drying than cotton. In warm, humid weather, bamboo clothing doesn't stick to the skin: it keeps you drier, cooler and more comfortable.
Bamboo charcoal fabric is made by drying and burning mature(five years and older) bamboo plants , inside an oven at a temperature above 800˚C. The burnt bamboo becomes charcoal which is further processed and made into nano particles.
Bamboo Charcoal’s properties can purify water, absorb moisture and reduce foul smells. The charcoal emits electromagnetic waves which release far infrared rays and accelerate blood circulation.
Bamboo is more absorbent and breathable than Cotton and is 40% more absorbent than even the finest organic cotton, wicking moisture away from the skin and keeping you dry and comfortable.
Why Bamboo & Charcoal fabric? (Here's the Science🤯)
Easier on sensitive skin👱♀️ – Bamboo fibre fabric inhibits bacterial metabolism. You will suffer fewer allergic skin reactions compared with the usage of pads which use fibres sterilised with antimicrobial agents This means that all you ladies with super sensitive skin will love the gentle pampering of our pads
Reduces Static build-up 😎– We use a conductive material so it keeps a balanced charge in the fabric to help reduce static build-up.
Superior Absorption & Deodorising Ability🦠 – This ability is due to the highly porous structure of bamboo fabric. According to research, bamboo charcoal can absorb formaldehyde at a rate of 19.39%; as for benzene, the rate is 8.69%; as for toluene, the rate is 5.65% ; ammonia with the rate of 22.73% ; chloroform with the high rate of 40.68%, and the lasting time can be up to 24 days. In the drop-off of bamboo charcoal fibre, the content of carbon is nearly 96%, -this property enables it to absorb sulphur based compounds, nitrogen-based compounds etc.
Far Infrared Radiation properties 🤯 – The components of bamboo charcoal fibre contain metal elements such as potassium, magnesium, calcium carbonised material, fibres and fabrics which have the property of far-infrared radiation.
Once absorbed, the fabric disperses the far infrared radiation to activate human cells, increase cellular energy, accelerate the speed of blood circulation and promote and improve body metabolism.
Superior Washing and Durability 🧼- Bamboo charcoal fibres are quick-drying and because the bamboo charcoal Nano-particles are embedded in the fabric rather than simply coated onto the surface, the fabric can be washed numerous times with no adverse effect on the charcoal qualities.
Moisture Regulation😋 – Bamboo charcoal yarn has a cross-section filled with various micro-gaps and micro-holes so compared to conventional fabrics, it is better at moisture absorption and ventilation. The fabric keeps the wearer dry and comfortable on hot days.
Thermal Regulation🤗 – The highly porous nature of bamboo charcoal also lets it act as an insulator against the cold whilst also retaining heat. According to ITRI test results, when a 500W halogen light shone on the bamboo charcoal yarn for 10 minutes, the yarn emits far more infrared rays 87% ~ 92%, and warm up temperature of 10 degrees Celsius, which is much higher than for instance wool’s 5 degrees Celsius.
Promotes Better Health🦷 – Bamboo Charcoal fibre contains potassium, calcium and other minerals; the launch of negative ions is at a high level which is equivalent to the anion concentration of the outskirts-which is beneficial for people’s health.
Antimicrobial Functions – (This bit get a little 'Sciencey'' but we think it’s mind blowing🦠) Bamboo Charcoal fibre effectively decomposes the micro-organisms attached to its surface and in the air around it. The American Association for Testing and Materials ASTME2149-2001 fixation antibacterial activity of antibacterial agents dynamic testing method is adopted to study Staphylococcus aureus ATCC6538 (gram-positive bacteria). By testing the one-sided knitted fabric bamboo charcoal filament bacteriostatic antibacterial function, the results show that the inhibiting rate is 65%, antimicrobial rate is 84%.
Whilst bamboo fabric technology is still relatively new, only gaining momentum in Asia in the mid-1990s, its uses are widespread-ranging from clothing to carpeting to bedding. Scientists and manufacturers are increasingly searching to develop and produce environmentally friendly fabrics that offer the same feel and durability of synthetic fabrics. Bamboo charcoal is a surprising but strong contender in this field.
